Recognizing and Responding to Intimate Partner Violence in the Home Deb Norris

Sponsor: Steps to End Domestic Violence
Instructor: Steph Steeves

This training is specifically for those who work closely with families and whose roles involve family home visits. It will be especially relevant to Children's Integrated Service professionals.

Millions of families are impacted by intimate partner violence each year, so it is likely that you will encounter this over the course of your career. It can be hard to know what to do when you suspect violence may be occurring and how to help. In this webinar, you will learn how to recognize and respond to signs of intimate partner violence during a home health visit and discuss how you can best support survivors in your role.

This training will cover:

  • *An overview of intimate partner violence and its impact on families
  • *How to recognize signs of abuse
  • *Barriers to leaving the relationship or reporting abuse
  • *How to support survivors of violence, including bringing up the topic of IPV and responding to disclosures of abuse
  • This training is facilitated by Steps to End Domestic Violence, a nonprofit that serves survivors of intimate partner violence in Chittenden County, VT.
