Relationships and Role Models: Behavior Management Strategies for Success June 18, 2019
There are a variety of opportunities for all EJRP staff to interact with children over the course of the summer – in and around the park and pool as well as at camp. We want to make sure that all staff are equipped with tools to ensure those interactions are positive and successful and continue to fulfill our mission of creating community through people, parks, and programs. All participants will leave with tools to use with children in our community. This will include specific verbal and body language to use, a clear expectation of their role during those interactions, tools for redirection and positive reinforcement, and an understanding of the hierarchy for assistance if needed. In addition participants will be able to model and differentiate appropriate responses to scenarios that will likely come up over the summer; demonstrate several attention-getters for large group management and explain at least two examples of times these could be applied in the context of their individual job; recite key concepts of Positive Discipline and demonstrate at least two ways these could be applied in the context of their individual job; and practice presenting expectations to a small-group and explain at least two examples of times these could be applied in the context of their individual job.
