Strengthening Families Essentials Training 1: Introductions to the Strengthening Families Protective Factor Network Sylvia Kennedy-Godin

This is the first of four Strengthening Families Essentials Trainings. This module focuses on understanding the Five Protective Factors the child care providers can use to support parents in building family resilience. Then, there is a larger focus on building relationships with families. The learning objectives for participants are as follows: 1) to understand the consequences of child abuse and neglect, and the power of the protective factor framework in preventing it. 2) to identify, describe, and recognize firsthand the power of the 5 Protective and Promotional Factors in our own lives. 3) to define and give examples of the seven strategies which support the development of the Strengthening Families Protective Factors. 4) To recognize strengths in challenging situations and identify strategies that can help to promote them. 5) to identify the interpersonal skills needed to create and maintain good relationships.
