Supporting Children Impacted By Trauma August 13, 2025
Up to 2/3 of children in the US will experience a traumatic event before the age of 16 and it can have lasting impacts on learning and development. Would you know how to provide support if this affected one of your students? This training will provide an overview of trauma, it's impact on children, and the role of the early childhood educator in creating trauma informed environments. We will define common trauma responses, examine how they present in the classroom, and offer strategies for support and healing. The last half hour of this training will be devoted to discussing situations and scenarios that may come up in your work, as well as an opportunity for a Q and A with Steps to End Domestic Violence's Youth Advocate, a former early childhood educator who now works with children impacted by violence in their homes.
