Technology that Supports Early Childhood Learning and Development October 29, 2020
Technology has become increasingly present in both our homes and early childhood programs/classrooms – particularly during the pandemic. Because of this changing landscape, early childhood educators need to be informed about different types of technologies; stay cognizant of the impact of technology on young children's growth and development; and learn to be innovative in integrating technology to build connection and community. Over these two sessions, participants will delve into ways to use technology as extensions for children's learning and for connecting with families. We will explore recommendations from leading organizations around best practice and effective usage for young children. As we discuss our current experiences, we will develop our own policies for use of technology in our classrooms and schools. Participants will: Examine the effects of technology on children’s brain development. Understand ways to effectively use technology to enhance learning and connect with families. Learn how to make informed choices when using technology in early childhood settings. Explore how to use technology to bridge hybrid and in-person learning. Explore/assess various applications and programs to use with young children and their families.
