The Impact of Opioids and Substance Use Disorders: Supporting Children and Families – Training of Trainers January 21, 2021
The opioid epidemic and substance use disorders continue to impact children and adults throughout the country. Are you looking for more information about what opioids are and how opioids and substance misuse impacts adults and children here in Vermont? Join us for a Training of Trainers session to talk about some of the terms and phrases used to talk about opioids, what we know about opioid misuse and addiction, and plan next steps to work with others in our community to support families impacted by opioid and substance misuse. The purposes of this Training of Trainers session are: 1. To provide a basic overview of the opioid crisis to practitioners who work with children ages birth to age eight, and their families. 2. To identify what additional information would be helpful for a local professional who works in opioid and substance misuse to provide at your training. 3. To identify next steps to start working with community partners to better support children, families, and other practitioners around the issues of opioid and substance misuse. Content for this Training of Trainers session was developed by the National Center on Early Childhood Health and Wellness and meets the criteria for Advanced Specialized Care training.
