Tips and Tools for Early Childhood Special Educators September 22, 2021
A day in the life of an Early Childhood Special Educator (ECSE) is always busy! Each day is chock-full of teaching, meetings, and paperwork responsibilities. These responsibilities become even more complex for those working in multiple settings and on teams. Managing it all can sometimes feel like a daunting task. This two-day live virtual workshop series will sharpen your organizational skills and add to your strategy toolbox as we walk through each step of the special education process. We will discuss the daily operations and responsibilities of being a preschool case manager/service provider and brainstorm cost-effective, time-smart approaches. Additionally, each day will include a “make and take” session for creating materials that you can start using your next day at work. Participants will be prepared for this by referencing a project list which will be sent ahead of time and will include simple printables and common objects. Workshop #1 : Case Management and Service Delivery Workshop #2: Lesson Planning, Consultation, and Transitions Graduate Course Option: Attend both workshops, stay for a half-hour meeting after each workshop day, and fulfill additional requirements. Additional Course requirements: 1. Implementing a new case management tool presented at the workshop 2. Trying out a new case management strategy presented at the workshop 3. Implementing one of the materials created at this workshop 4. Reading additional articles and documents such as VT Special Education Rules
