TSG Observation and Documentation: From Overwhelm to Confidence Deb Norris December 10, 2025

This session offers a practical and supportive refresh on observation and documentation using the VELS/TSG Crosswalk. Participants will explore how VELS domains align with TSG objectives, and how this alignment can strengthen both daily practice and assessment. We will examine examples of objective vs. subjective observations, look at real documentation samples, and discuss what counts as meaningful evidence in early learning settings. Teachers will learn simple, sustainable systems for collecting observations through play, including how tools like floorbooks and documentation panels can support children's learning stories. This session is designed to reduce overwhelm, build confidence, and help educators use VELS and TSG together in a clear, manageable way. Participants will receive a VELS Aligned Observation Quick Guide Fee: $5.00 (Venmo: @spotlightonearlylearning) Vermont Early Childhood Educators will receive 2 hours of professional development.
