Winter in the Outdoor Classroom January 5, 2021
As the seasons begin to change, we know we need to make adaptations to make our outdoor classrooms function in cooler temperatures. Participants will gain tips, tricks, and techniques for keeping the outdoor classroom going with colder temperatures and the unique challenges that winter brings. Participants will examine ways to gather and store a class set of outdoor gear and explore ways to embed “routine based curriculum” as a way to address early learning standards outdoors in winter. After completion of the training, participants will be able to (1) identify obstacles for outdoor classrooms in winter and brainstorm tips, tricks, and techniques for making outdoor learning work in cold temperatures, (2) examine ways to gather and store a class set of outdoor gear, and (3) explore ways to embed “routine based curriculum” as a way to address early learning standards outdoors in winter.
