Frequently Asked Questions
I already have an account which I’ve used to sign up for trainings in the past, do I have to create a new one?
Even if you have taken Northern Lights trainings before, you may need to create or update your account information before registering for new trainings.
We recommend that you select the “Create an Account” option when you visit the Northern Lights Login page. If you already have an active Northern Lights account, you will be taken to a login page where you will be asked to enter your password; if you do not have a Northern Lights account, you will be given instructions on how to create an account.
I’ve created an account, how can I register for trainings?
After you have successfully created your account and logged in, you must complete the Northern Lights Training Application before you are able to register for Northern Lights trainings.
I’m clicking the “Register” button on the NL Calendar, but it just takes me to the login page. How can I find the training I want to take?

How can I see what trainings I am registered for?
Once you have registered for a training, you will receive a confirmation email with additional information about your training. Additionally, you can find all of your registered trainings by logging in to your Northern Lights account, and clicking the “Registered Trainings” button.

Creating a Northern Lights Account

To register for a Northern Lights training, you must first create a Northern Lights account. Let’s get started by going to the sign-in page for the Northern Lights portal, which can be found at: https://go.northernlightsccv.org/portal/start
- Click the text that says “Create a New Account”, below “First-Time Users”. This will take you to the account creation page.
- Enter your preferred Email Address, legal First and Last Name, and Birthdate. This information is primarily used for verification purposes – if you have a preferred name that differs from your legal name, you will have the option to note that when you register for trainings. Click “Continue” to submit this information and continue to the next step.
- A Temporary PIN will be sent to the email address that you entered in Step 3 – check your email (including spam/trash folders), and enter the PIN into the box titled “Temporary PIN”. Input the birthdate that you entered in Step 3, and click “Login”.
- Create a new password for your Northern Lights Account. Once you have created a password that meets the criteria listed, enter it into the “New Password” and “New Password (again)” boxes, then click “Set Password”.
- Congratulations! You have created your Northern Lights account.
Completing the Training Application

Once you have created your Northern Lights account, you will need to complete the Training Application before you are able to register for trainings. The application only needs to be completed once, and takes about 5 minutes to complete.
- Log in to your account at the Northern Lights Account Portal. Once logged in, you
will be taken to the Application page. If you have just created an account, you will
automatically be taken to the Application page. - Click the “Start New Task/Application” box, and select “Northern Lights Training”, then “Open Application”.
- To complete the application, please follow the instructions on the application page. Any fields that have a “*” next them are required to complete the application. When you have completed the “Personal/Contact Information” section of the application, click “Continue” to be taken to the next section of the application.
- The “Demographics” and “Employment” sections contain a number of optional questions. Additional information on these questions are provided on the application itself. You may choose to enter any optional information in the appropriate fields, and select “Continue” to be taken to the next section of the application.
- When you reach the “Electronic Signature” section of the application, enter your full legal name, then click “Confirm”.
- If there are any required fields which have not been completed, you will see these listed in red text on the “Review” section. If there are no required fields left to
complete and you are satisfied with your application, click “Submit Application”
Register for Northern Lights Trainings

- Log in to your account at the Northern Lights Account Portal.
- Once logged in, you will be taken to the Application page. If you have already completed the Training Application, you will now be able to register for trainings by selecting the “Northern Lights Trainings” link in the “Your Applications” section of the Portal.
- Once you have selected “Northern Lights Trainings”, click “Open Application” to view available trainings.
- Select a training category from the dropdown box which says “Choose An Option”. This will show you all available trainings in the selected category
- Once you have found a training that you would like to register for, click on the title of that training to be taken to its registration page.
- On the registration page, you will see the contact information you provided when you created your Northern Lights account. Fill in any missing information, and click “Submit” to register for the training.
Once you have successfully registered for a training, you will be taken to a
confirmation page. You will also receive an email confirmation containing additional
information about the training.
Cancel your Registration a Training

- Log in to your account at the Northern Lights Account Portal.
- Once logged in, you will be taken to the Application page. Select the “Northern Lights Trainings” link in the “Your Applications” section of the Portal.
- Once you have selected “Northern Lights Trainings”, click “Open Application” to view the list of trainings.
- Select a training category from the dropdown box which says “Choose An Option”. This will show you all available trainings in the selected category
- Select the training that you wish to cancel to be taken to its registration page.
- On the registration page, you will see a confirmation that you are currently registered
for this training. Click the box below this that says “Cancel Registration”. - A prompt will appear asking you to confirm your decision to cancel the registration.
Click “OK” to confirm your cancellation.
Once you have successfully registered for a training, you will be taken to a
confirmation page. You will also receive an email confirmation containing additional
information about the training.
